Sātyaki’s Call for Intervention and Yudhiṣṭhira’s Vow-Bound Restraint (सात्यकिवाक्यं—धर्मराजस्य धैर्यनिश्चयः)

भ्राता च मे य:ः स सखा गुरुश्न जनार्दनस्यात्मसममश्ष पार्थ: । यदर्थमैच्छन्‌ मनुजा: सुपुत्रं शिष्यं गुरुश्नाप्रतिकूलवादम्‌,जो मेरे भाई, सखा और गुरु हैं, जो भगवान्‌ श्रीकृष्णके आत्मतुल्य सुहृद्‌ हैं, वे कुन्तीकुमार अर्जुन भी अलग रहें। मनुष्य जिस उद्देश्यसे अच्छे पुत्रकी और गुरु प्रतिकूल न बोलनेवाले शिष्यकी कामना करते हैं, उसे सफल करनेका समय आ गया है

bhrātā ca me yaḥ sa sakhā guruś ca janārdanasya ātma-samaḥ pārthaḥ | yad-artham aicchan manujāḥ su-putraṁ śiṣyaṁ guruś cāpratikūla-vādam ||

Baladeva berkata: “Pārtha (Arjuna)—yang bagiku adalah saudara, sahabat, dan sesepuh yang patut dihormati, dan yang bagi Janārdana (Kṛṣṇa) semulia dirinya sendiri—hendaknya juga berdiri terpisah demi maksud ini. Kini tibalah saat untuk menunaikan tujuan yang membuat orang mendambakan putra yang luhur dan murid yang tidak membantah gurunya.”
