Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how sensory allure and calculated intimacy can destabilize austerity when discernment is immature; it implicitly points to the need for inner vigilance (self-mastery) rather than relying only on physical seclusion.

A woman sent to entice the ascetic youth Ṛśyaśṛṅga plays with a ball near his dwelling, sways like a fruit-laden creeper, presses her body against his, and repeatedly embraces him—an intentional act of seduction to draw him away from strict ascetic life.
