Educational Q&A

The verse praises the presence of sadguṇas (virtues) in the addressed persons and presents a dharmic preference: one should seek śreyas (true welfare) by choosing the company and proximity of the virtuous.

A speaker (introduced as Vaiśampāyana) conveys a respectful statement of admiration: the addressed group is seen as embodying virtues both individually and collectively, and therefore the speakers express a desire to live among them for the sake of auspicious welfare.
