Sainyasaṅgraha and Bhāga-Vyavasthā (Forces Assembled and Rival Allocations) | सैन्यसंग्रह-भागव्यवस्था
ये चान्ये पार्थिवा राजन प्रत्युद्यास्यन्ति सड़रे । समाद्दानेन तांश्वापि पाण्डुपुत्रा अकल्पयन्
ye cānye pārthivā rājan pratyudyāsyanti saṅgare | samādānena tān śv āpi pāṇḍuputrā akalpayan ||
Sanjaya berkata: Wahai Raja, para penguasa lain yang akan maju ke medan perang di pihakmu—menyebut nama mereka satu per satu—para putra Pandu telah lebih dahulu membagi-bagikan mereka di antara diri mereka, menetapkan siapa menghadapi siapa.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined resolve and strategic responsibility: the Pāṇḍavas do not rush into war blindly; they deliberately accept accountability by identifying likely opponents and assigning duties, reflecting a kṣatriya ethic of preparedness and orderly conduct in conflict.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that, besides the main Kaurava leaders, any additional allied kings who come forth to fight for the Kauravas have already been anticipated by the Pāṇḍavas, who have named them and decided among themselves who will face each one in battle.
