Sanatsujāta–Dhṛtarāṣṭra Saṃvāda: Pramāda as Mṛtyu
Chapter 42
satyātmā bhava rājendra satye lokāḥ pratiṣṭhitāḥ | tāṁs tu satyamukhān āhuḥ satye hy amṛtam āhitam ||
Sanatsujāta berkata: “Wahai raja terbaik, jadikanlah dirimu berjiwa kebenaran. Seluruh dunia tegak berlandaskan satya (kebenaran).
Truth is not merely a virtue but the very ground of reality and the path to the imperishable; one should become truth-centered, and allied disciplines like self-restraint, renunciation, and vigilant non-negligence are praised because they lead toward truth and thereby toward immortality.
In the Udyoga Parva’s Sanatsujātīya discourse, the sage Sanatsujāta instructs the king (addressed as rājendra, i.e., Dhṛtarāṣṭra), offering ethical and spiritual counsel amid the looming crisis of the Kuru conflict, emphasizing truth as the foundation and goal.
