Puruṣaikatva-vyākhyāna: The One Virāṭ Puruṣa and the Many ‘Puruṣas’
Rudra–Brahmā Saṃvāda
भूमेर्विवरसंगुप्तं गरुडेह ममाज्ञया । अधक्षरं नृपश्रेष्ठ खेचरं कुरु मा चिरम्,“गरुड! पृथ्वीके विवरमें सुरक्षितरूपसे रहनेवाले इन पातालचारी नृपश्रेष्ठ वसुको तुम मेरी आज्ञासे शीघ्र ही आकाशचारी बना दो”
bhūmervivarasaṃguptaṃ garuḍeha mamājñayā | adhakṣaraṃ nṛpaśreṣṭha khecaraṃ kuru mā ciram ||
Bhishma berkata: “Wahai Garuḍa, atas perintahku, tanpa menunda, jadikan raja terbaik itu—yang tersembunyi aman dalam celah bumi—seorang yang dapat melintas di angkasa.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical force of rightful authority used for protection and uplift: a dharmic elder issues a decisive command to remove danger and grant capability, emphasizing timely action and responsible power.
Bhīṣma addresses Garuḍa and orders him to quickly transform a king who has been safely hidden in a fissure of the earth into a sky-traveler—an act of supernatural assistance and immediate intervention.
