बलि: किलोपटह्वियते तस्य देवस्य तैनरि: । “इसके बाद जब वे स्तुति करने लगे, तब उनकी तुमुल ध्वनि हमारे कानोंमें पड़ी। वे सब लोग उन तेजोमय भगवान्को पूजाकी सामग्री अर्पण कर रहे थे ।।
baliḥ kilopaṭahviyate tasya devasya tair naraḥ | vayaṃ tu tejasā tasya sahasā hṛtacetasaḥ ||
Bhishma berkata: “Dewa itu sungguh dipanggil dengan nama ‘Bali’. Ketika orang-orang itu mulai melantunkan pujian, suara mereka yang gemuruh sampai ke telinga kami. Mereka semua mempersembahkan persembahan pemujaan kepada Tuhan yang bercahaya itu; dan kami, oleh sinar kemuliaan-Nya, seketika menjadi terpesona dan kehilangan keteguhan hati.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights how sincere worship and the perceived divine ‘tejas’ (spiritual radiance) can overpower ordinary mental states, turning attention inward and upward; it suggests that devotion is not merely ritual but an experience that transforms consciousness.
Bhishma describes hearing a loud collective hymn of worshippers who are offering ritual materials to a radiant deity called ‘Bali’; the scene is so powerful that Bhishma and his companions feel their minds suddenly seized by the deity’s splendor.
