Systems of Knowledge and Vyāsa’s Nārāyaṇa-Origin
प्रीतस्ततो5स्य भगवान् देवदेव: पुरातन: । साक्षात् तं दर्शयामास सो<दृश्यो5न्येन केनचित्
prītastato 'sya bhagavān devadevaḥ purātanaḥ | sākṣāt taṃ darśayāmāsa so 'dṛśyo 'nyena kenacit ||
Kemudian Sang Bhagavan—Nārāyaṇa, Dewa para dewa yang purba—berkenan kepadanya dan menganugerahkan sang raja penglihatan langsung akan Diri-Nya. Namun bagi siapa pun yang lain Ia tetap tak terlihat.
भीष्म उवाच
Divine revelation (darśana) arises from the Lord’s pleasure and grace, not from external conditions alone. The verse underscores that spiritual experience is inwardly conditioned—earned through devotion and merit—and may remain inaccessible to others even when they are nearby.
Bhīṣma narrates that the ancient supreme deity Nārāyaṇa became pleased with the king and granted him a direct, personal vision. At the same time, the Lord did not become visible to anyone else, emphasizing the exclusivity of the granted theophany.
