Subtle Dharma and the Primacy of Renunciation
भ्रातृसौहृदमास्थाय यदुक्त वचन त्वया । न्याय्यं युक्त च कौन्तेय प्रीतो5हं तेन तेडर्जुन,अर्जुन! कुन्तीनन्दन! तुमने भ्रातृस्नेहवश जो बात कही है, वह न्यायसंगत और उचित है। मैं उससे तुमपर प्रसन्न ही हुआ हूँ
bhrātṛ-sauhṛdam āsthāya yad uktaṁ vacanaṁ tvayā | nyāyyaṁ yuktaṁ ca kaunteya prīto 'haṁ tena te 'rjuna ||
Yudhiṣṭhira berkata: “Wahai putra Kuntī, wahai Arjuna, kata-kata yang kau ucapkan karena kasih seorang saudara adalah adil dan beralasan. Karena itu, Arjuna, aku berkenan kepadamu.”
युधिछिर उवाच
Affectionate counsel is commendable when it remains aligned with nyāya (justice/dharma) and yukti (sound reasoning). Yudhiṣṭhira affirms that emotional motivation (brotherly goodwill) gains ethical value when expressed through just and rational speech.
In the Śānti Parva’s reflective setting after the war, Yudhiṣṭhira responds to Arjuna’s statement. He recognizes that Arjuna spoke out of fraternal concern and explicitly approves it as both fair and well-judged, expressing satisfaction with Arjuna.
