Śiśupāla-nigraha-prastāva: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Conciliation and Bhīṣma’s Defense of Kṛṣṇa
Book 2, Chapter 35
A properly conducted yajña is not only about offerings to the gods but also about righteous redistribution: honoring learned priests with dakṣiṇā and ensuring the wider community is fed and satisfied. Generosity and orderly patronage are presented as marks of dharmic public ritual.
The narrator reports the outcome of a grand sacrifice: the gods are pleased by the offerings, the Brahmins are pleased by receiving food and substantial gifts as dakṣiṇā, and all social groups present experience joy and full satisfaction at the event.
