The verse teaches that true strength and brilliance should mature in a way that brings joy and benefit to one’s parents and community; growth is portrayed as auspicious when it is well-proportioned (pramāṇa) and ethically oriented, like sacred fire nourished by rightful offerings.
A prince of Magadha is being described as growing steadily in power and stature. The narration uses two similes—fire intensified by oblations and the waxing moon—to emphasize his increasing vigor and the happiness he gives to his parents.
