Vasudeva–Arjuna Dialogue in the Aftermath of Dvārakā

Educational Q&A

Even amid catastrophic loss, dharma expresses itself as timely, responsible action: grief is acknowledged, yet one must perform the appropriate duties—here, the funeral rites for the dead—honoring social and ethical obligations despite personal sorrow.

After the terrible internecine slaughter of the Yādavas, Arjuna sees them lying dead and is stricken with grief. He then undertakes the necessary, time-appropriate rites, performing the funeral duties for the fallen in proper order.
