Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how a single forceful act (karma) in war immediately triggers strategic and moral reactions: leaders reassess, seek counsel, and respond. It hints at the Mahābhārata’s recurring theme that actions in conflict carry weight beyond tactics—shaping judgment, relationships, and the ethical climate of the war.

Sañjaya narrates that Duryodhana, after witnessing a significant deed performed by Bhīmasena during the battle, turns to Śakuni and begins to speak—setting up advice, plotting, or a tactical response to Bhīma’s action.
