कर्णनिधनश्रवणम् — Hearing of Karṇa’s Fall and Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Lament
अहितान्येव चीर्णानि तेषां तत् फलमागतम्,राजन्! आपने राज्यकी कामना रखनेवाले अपने पुत्रोंक हितकी इच्छा रखते हुए सदा उन पाण्डवोंके अहित ही किये हैं; आपके उन्हीं कर्मोका यह फल प्राप्त हुआ है
ahitāny eva cīrṇāni teṣāṃ tat phalam āgatam, rājan! āpane rājyakī kāmanā rakhanevāle apane putroṃ ke hitakī icchā rakhate hue sadā un pāṇḍavoṃ ke ahit hī kiye haiṃ; āpake unhīṃ karmoṃ kā yaha phala prāpta huā hai.
Sanjaya berkata: “Wahai Raja, yang mereka lakukan hanyalah perbuatan-perbuatan yang mencelakakan, dan kini buahnya telah tiba. Demi kesejahteraan putra-putramu dan karena dahaga akan kerajaan, engkau berulang kali bertindak melawan para Pandawa; inilah hasil yang telah masak dari perbuatan-perbuatan itu.”
संजय उवाच
Actions motivated by partiality and the pursuit of power, especially when they harm the righteous, inevitably yield corresponding consequences; the present suffering is portrayed as karmic fruition (phala) of sustained wrongdoing (ahita).
Sanjaya addresses King Dhritarashtra, attributing the current calamity in the war to the long-standing hostility shown toward the Pandavas; he frames the unfolding events as the direct result of earlier harmful choices made in favor of Dhritarashtra’s sons.
