अर्जुनस्य द्रोणिप्रतिघातः कर्णोपसर्पणं च

पुन: कर्णस्त्रिसप्तत्या भीमसेनमथेषुभि: । पुत्रं परीप्सन् विव्याध क्रूरं क्ररैर्जिघांसया,फिर पुत्रके प्राण बचानेकी इच्छासे कर्णने क्रूर भीमसेनको मार डालनेकी अभिलाषा लेकर उनपर तिहत्तर बाणोंका प्रहार किया
punaḥ karṇas trisaptatyā bhīmasenam atheṣubhiḥ | putraṃ parīpsan vivyādha krūraṃ kraraiḥ jighāṃsayā ||
Kemudian Karṇa, demi menyelamatkan putranya, dengan hasrat kejam untuk membunuh, menembus Bhīmasena dengan tujuh puluh tiga anak panah.
