Educational Q&A

The verse expresses śaraṇāgati (seeking refuge): in the face of overwhelming danger, one turns to a proven protector and invokes his established duty of guardianship—asking that the same care shown to one’s own people be extended to others in distress.

In the Drona Parva’s intense war context, Sañjaya voices an urgent plea to Kṛṣṇa (Janārdana): since Kṛṣṇa is known to save the Vṛṣṇi clan from every crisis, he should likewise save “us” (the threatened party) from the present calamity.
