Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 37: Sañjaya’s Account of Abhimanyu’s Precision Disruption of a Chariot Contingent
सतुतान् प्रतिविव्याध त्रिभिस्त्रिभिरजिद्ागै: । नृत्यन्निव महाराज चापहस्त: प्रतापवान्,महाराज! उस समय धनुष हाथमें लिये प्रतापी अभिमन्युने जैसे नाच रहा हो, इस प्रकार सब ओर घूम-घूमकर उन सब महारथियोंको तीन-तीन बाणोंसे घायल कर दिया
sūtān prativivyādha tribhis tribhir ajidāgaiḥ | nṛtyann iva mahārāja cāpahastaḥ pratāpavān ||
Wahai Raja, Abhimanyu yang perkasa, busur di tangan, berputar ke segala arah seakan menari, lalu menembus mereka dengan tiga anak panah masing-masing—lurus, tak menyimpang.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined prowess in the midst of violence: even in war, effectiveness comes from mastery, focus, and controlled movement—qualities expected of a kṣatriya acting within the demands of battle.
Sañjaya describes a warrior’s agile combat display: moving around as if dancing, bow in hand, he wounds the charioteers by striking each with three arrows, disrupting the enemy’s chariot operations.
