उपवेदान् खलीनांश्व॒ कृत्वा लोकत्रयेश्वर: । गायत्री प्रग्रह कृत्वा सावित्रीं च महेश्वर:,तत्पश्चात् तीनों लोकोंके स्वामी महेश्वरने उपवेदोंको लगाम बनाकर गायत्री और सावित्रीको प्रग्रह बना लिया
upavedān khalīnāṁśva kṛtvā lokatrayeśvaraḥ | gāyatrī-pragrahaṁ kṛtvā sāvitrīṁ ca maheśvaraḥ ||
Sang Mahādewa, penguasa tiga dunia, menjadikan upaveda sebagai kekang bagi kuda-kudanya; dan menjadikan Gāyatrī serta Sāvitrī sebagai tali kendali, lalu menundukkannya dalam penguasaan.
व्यास उवाच
Power and movement (symbolized by horses) should be governed by disciplined knowledge and sacred practice. The Upavedas, Gāyatrī, and Sāvitrī function as metaphors for restraint, right guidance, and ethically ordered action under dharma.
Vyāsa describes Maheśvara as the lord of the three worlds using Vedic elements as controlling gear: the Upavedas become the bridle, while Gāyatrī and Sāvitrī become the reins—an image of divine mastery and regulation.
