ज्येष्ठ भूतं वदन्त्येनं ब्राह्मणा मुनयस्तथा । प्रथमो होष देवानां मुखादस्यानलो5भवत्,ब्राह्मण और मुनिजन इन्हें सबसे ज्येष्ठ बताते हैं, ये देवताओंमें सबसे प्रथम हैं; इन्हींके मुखसे अग्निदेवका प्रादुर्भाव हुआ है
jyeṣṭha-bhūtaṃ vadanty enaṃ brāhmaṇā munayas tathā | prathamo hoṣa devānāṃ mukhād asyānalo 'bhavat ||
Para Brāhmaṇa dan para resi menyatakan Dia sebagai yang tertua di antara segala makhluk. Ia yang terdepan di antara para dewa; dan dari mulut-Nya lahirlah Agni, dewa api.
