तच्छुत्वा द्रोणपुत्रस्य पर्यवर्तत वाहिनी । ततः सर्वे महाशड्खान् दध्मु: पुरुषसत्तमा:,द्रोणपुत्र अश्वत्थामाकी वह बात सुनकर कौरवोंकी सेना लौट आयी। फिर तो सभी पुरुषश्रेष्ठ वीर बड़े-बड़े शंख बजाने लगे
tac chrutvā droṇaputrasya paryavartata vāhinī | tataḥ sarve mahāśaṅkhān dadhmuḥ puruṣasattamāḥ ||
Mendengar kata-kata putra Droṇa, Aśvatthāmā, bala Kaurava pun berbalik. Lalu para kesatria utama meniup sangkakala besar, membangkitkan semangat dan meneguhkan tekad di tengah hiruk-pikuk perang.
