यद्येतन्न रहस्यं ते वक्तुमर्हस्यरिंदम । धैर्यस्य वैकृतं ब्रूहि त्वमद्य मधुसूदन,“शत्रुदमन! यदि कोई गोपनीय बात न हो तो मुझे अवश्य बतावें। मधुसूदन! आपके इस हर्ष-प्रदर्शनसे आज हमारा धैर्य छूटा जा रहा है, अतः आप इसका कारण अवश्य बतावें

Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca | yady etan na rahasyaṃ te vaktum arhasi rinda­ma | dhairyasy vaikṛtaṃ brūhi tvam adya madhusūdana ||

Translation

Wahai penunduk musuh, bila hal ini bukan rahasia dan engkau memandang patut untuk diucapkan, maka katakanlah kepadaku. Wahai Madhusūdana, hari ini ketenangan kami terusik oleh pernyataan sukacita yang tak biasa ini—maka jelaskanlah sebabnya.
