भीष्मस्य भीमसेन-निरोधः

Bhīṣma checks Bhīmasena; matched engagements intensify

पादौ तव धरा देवी दिशो बाहू दिवं शिर: । मूर्तिस्ते5हं सुरा: कायश्नन्द्रादित्यौ च चक्षुषी,पृथ्वीदेवी आपके चरण हैं, दिशाएँ बाहु हैं और द्युलोक मस्तक है। मैं ब्रह्मा आपका शरीर, देवता अंग-प्रत्यंग और चन्द्रमा तथा सूर्य नेत्र हैं

pādau tava dharā devī diśo bāhū divaṁ śiraḥ | mūrtis te ’haṁ surāḥ kāyaś candrādityau ca cakṣuṣī ||

Bhīṣma berkata: “Wahai Tuhan, Dewi Bumi adalah kaki-Mu; segala penjuru adalah lengan-Mu; dan surga adalah kepala-Mu. Aku adalah wujud-Mu yang berjasad; para dewa adalah anggota-anggota tubuh-Mu; dan Bulan serta Matahari adalah kedua mata-Mu.”
