Granting Sañjaya Divine Sight and the Description of Omens
The verse frames celestial disturbance as a moral and political warning: when cosmic signs appear disordered, rulers should recognize impending collective suffering and act with heightened responsibility, restraint, and preparedness.
During the lead-up to the Kurukṣetra war in Bhīṣma Parva, Vaiśampāyana reports ominous astronomical signs—Saturn afflicting Rohiṇī and the Moon’s sign/luster appearing disturbed—interpreted as foretelling great danger ahead.
