Marutta–Indra Rivalry and Bṛhaspati’s Priestly Refusal (मरुत्तेन्द्रस्पर्धा—बृहस्पतेः पौरोहित्यनिश्चयः)
वासवो<प्यसुरान् सर्वान् विजित्य च निपात्य च । इन्द्रत्वं प्राप्प लोकेषु ततो वब्रे पुरोहितम्
vāsavo 'py asurān sarvān vijitya ca nipātya ca | indratvaṃ prāpya lokeṣu tato vavre purohitam ||
Vyāsa berkata: “Vāsava (Indra) pun, setelah menaklukkan seluruh Asura dan menjatuhkan mereka, memperoleh kedaulatan Indra di antara dunia-dunia. Sesudah itu, ia memilih seorang purohita (pendeta istana).”
