Puṣkara-Śapatha Itihāsa (Agastya–Indra Dispute at the Tīrthas) | पुष्कर-शपथ-आख्यानम्
गौतम उवाच गोदमो दमतो<5धूमो5दमस्ते समदर्शनात् । विद्धि मां गौतमं कृत्ये यातुधानि निबोध माम्
gautama uvāca | godamo damato dhūmo 'damas te samadarśanāt | viddhi māṃ gautamaṃ kṛtye yātudhāni nibodha mām ||
Gautama berkata: “Wahai Kṛtyā! Aku disebut Godama karena aku telah menundukkan ‘go’—yakni indria. Aku laksana api tanpa asap: cemerlang dan tak terselubung. Karena memandang semua dengan sama, engkau—atau siapa pun—takkan mampu menaklukkanku. Ketahuilah aku sebagai Gautama, wahai yātudhānī; pahamilah aku.”
