पात्रलक्षण-परिक्षा (Pātra-Lakṣaṇa Parīkṣā) — Criteria for a Worthy Recipient

चित्रायुधांश्षाप्पजयन्नेते कृष्णाजिनध्वजा: । प्रक्षिप्पाथ च कुम्भान्‌ वै पारगामिनमारभेत्‌

citrāyudhān śāpajayann ete kṛṣṇājinadhvajāḥ | prakṣipyātha ca kumbhān vai pāragāminam ārabhet ||

Bhīṣma bersabda: Walau para kṣatriya membawa beragam senjata yang indah, para Brāhmaṇa yang berpanji kulit kijang hitam (kṛṣṇājina) itu tetap menaklukkan mereka. Karena itu, seorang kṣatriya hendaknya memulai upacara demi kebajikan alam baka dengan menghadiahkan kendi-kendi (kumbha) berisi air kepada para Brāhmaṇa.
