Royal Duty of Honoring Learned Brahmins
The verse underscores the importance of lineage and succession in the dharmic imagination of kingship: a ruler’s legacy is carried forward through progeny, and the remembrance of worthy kings sustains social and political continuity.
Bhīṣma continues a genealogical account, telling the king that in a particular royal line two famous kings—Haihaya and Tālajaṅgha—were born as sons of Vatsa.
