Aṣṭāvakra–Strī-saṃvāda: Dhṛti, hospitality, and a dispute on autonomy
अथ तं प्रमदाः प्राहुर्भगवान् प्रविशत्विति । स च तासां सुरूपाणां तस्यैव भवनस्य हि
atha taṃ pramadāḥ prāhur bhagavān praviśatv iti | sa ca tāsāṃ surūpāṇāṃ tasyaiva bhavanasya hi ||
Kemudian para wanita itu berkata kepadanya, “Wahai Bhagavan, silakan masuk.” Dan ia pun, bersama para wanita yang elok rupa itu, memasuki rumah itu juga.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights how social honorifics and sensual allure can be used to invite someone into a situation; it implicitly points to the need for vigilance, restraint, and discernment (viveka) when entering morally charged contexts.
A group of women address the revered man, inviting him to enter; he then goes into that very house along with those beautiful women, setting the scene for what follows in the story.
