Anuśāsana-parva 17
दीर्घश्व हरिकेशश्व सुतीर्थ: कृष्ण एव च | शृगालरूप: सिद्धार्थो मुण्ड: सर्वशुभड़कर:
dīrghaśva harikeśaś ca sutīrthaḥ kṛṣṇa eva ca | śṛgālarūpaḥ siddhārtho muṇḍaḥ sarvaśubhaṅkaraḥ ||
Vāyu-dewa bersabda: “Ia dikenal dengan banyak sebutan—Dīrghaśva, Harikeśa, Sutīrtha, dan Kṛṣṇa. Ia pun mengambil rupa serigala hutan; Ia adalah Siddhārtha, yang segala maksudnya senantiasa tercapai; Ia adalah Muṇḍa, sang pengemis bertapa berkepala gundul; dan Ia Sarvaśubhaṅkara, pembawa keberkahan bagi semua makhluk.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse emphasizes the many names and forms through which the divine may be recognized—majestic, sacred, ascetic, and even seemingly humble or animal-like—while remaining fundamentally a universal benefactor who brings auspiciousness to all.
Vāyu-deva is describing the subject through a string of epithets, highlighting varied manifestations and attributes—sacredness (as a tīrtha), transcendence (Kṛṣṇa), accomplished power (Siddhārtha), ascetic guise (Muṇḍa), and beneficence (Sarvaśubhaṅkara).
