सौम्या रौद्रा गणाश्वैव योगभूतगणास्तथा । ज्योतींषि सरितो व्योम सुपर्ण: पतगेश्वर:
saumyā raudrā gaṇāś caiva yogabhūta-gaṇās tathā | jyotīṁṣi sarito vyoma suparṇaḥ patageśvaraḥ ||
Ada rombongan yang lembut dan rombongan yang dahsyat; demikian pula rombongan makhluk yang menyatu dengan daya yoga. Cahaya-cahaya langit, sungai-sungai, angkasa itu sendiri, dan Suparṇa Garuḍa—penguasa burung—(semuanya termasuk dalam tatanan kosmis itu).
भीष्म उवाच
The verse classifies existence into diverse orders—benign and fierce hosts, yogically empowered beings, and even cosmic elements like luminaries, rivers, and the sky—suggesting a dharmic vision where the universe is an ordered totality of interrelated powers and beings.
Bhīṣma continues an enumerative description of various classes of beings and cosmic constituents, naming different gaṇas and prominent entities like Suparṇa (Garuḍa), as part of a broader instruction on sacred cosmology and the structure of the world.
