Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
The verse emphasizes Mahādeva’s limitless power and omniform nature: the divine can manifest in countless shapes and perform seemingly impossible acts, inviting reverence and humility in the devotee.
Vāsudeva is describing Mahādeva (Śiva), listing examples of the forms he can assume and his capacity to uphold immense burdens, as part of a laudatory theological exposition.
