Bhīṣma berkata—Wahai raja manusia, wahai putra Kuntī, wahai penguasa insan! “Demikianlah hendaknya.” Sambil memandang dengan persetujuan, mereka menjawabnya. Mendengar sabda Sang Grandsire dan Brahmā, para dewa berseri-seri oleh sukacita dan berseru, “Wahai Yang Mulia, jadilah tepat demikian!”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the idea of dharma receiving divine confirmation: when a righteous or authoritative pronouncement is made (by revered figures like the Grandsire and Brahmā), the gods affirm it with “evam astu” (“so be it”), underscoring that moral order is supported by cosmic assent.
Bhīṣma narrates that, upon hearing the statement attributed to the Grandsire and Brahmā, the assembled gods rejoice and respond in agreement, formally ratifying the declaration with the blessing “Let it be so.”
