त इमे प्रसवस्यार्थे तव लोका: समावृता: । प्रजायस्व ततो लोकानुपभोक्ष्यसि पुष्कलान्
ta ime prasavasyārthe tava lokāḥ samāvṛtāḥ | prajāyasva tato lokān upabhokṣyasi puṣkalān |
“Karena itulah loka-lokamu ini tertutup demi tujuan kelahiran keturunan. Maka, perolehlah anak terlebih dahulu; setelah itu engkau akan menikmati sepenuhnya buah dari loka-loka kebajikanmu yang melimpah.”
मन्दपाल उवाच
The verse emphasizes the dharmic priority of generating progeny: fulfillment of one’s higher enjoyments or posthumous rewards is portrayed as contingent upon completing the responsibility of continuing the lineage. Ethical life is framed as duty-first, reward-after.
Mandapāla addresses another person (implicitly his partner), urging that their access to auspicious realms is ‘covered’ until the purpose of childbirth is met; he instructs that offspring should be produced first, and only then can the fruits of accumulated merit be enjoyed.
