तरुणादित्यसंकाशश्वीरवासा जटाधर: । पद्मपत्रानन: पिड्ुस्तेजसा प्रज्वलन्निव
taruṇādityasaṅkāśaś cīravāsā jaṭādharaḥ | padmapatrānanaḥ piṅgus tejasā prajvalann iva ||
Ia tampak cemerlang seperti matahari muda di pagi hari. Berpakaian kulit kayu dan berambut gimbal, wajahnya berseri laksana helai kelopak teratai. Berwarna tawny, ia seakan menyala oleh daya tapa dan sinar batinnya sendiri.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical ideal that true authority and nobility can manifest through tapas (discipline) and tejas (inner radiance), not through ornaments or power. Ascetic markers—bark-garments and matted locks—signal self-restraint and dharmic resolve.
Vaiśampāyana is describing the striking appearance of a figure who arrives or is seen: sunlike in brilliance, dressed as an ascetic, lotus-faced, and seemingly blazing with spiritual energy—setting a tone of reverence and significance for the ensuing episode.
