It frames Liṅga-pūjā as a disciplined, rule-governed tradition by stating that the Liṅga has defined modes of establishment, recognized varieties, and enumerated qualities—guiding proper installation and contemplative worship.
By presenting the Liṅga with structured “modes, varieties, and qualities,” the verse points to Shiva as Pati who is beyond limitation, yet compassionately accessible to the paśu (soul) through ordered symbols and attributes that support realization.
It highlights Liṅga-pratiṣṭhā and Liṅga-upāsanā grounded in classification (bheda) and qualities (guṇa), a practical framework often paired with Pāśupata-style discipline—purity, vow-observance, and focused contemplation on the Liṅga as the support of meditation.
