asaṃgo yuyudhānasya kuṇistasya suto 'bhavat kuṇer yugaṃdharaḥ putraḥ śaineyā iti kīrtitāḥ
Dari Yuyudhāna lahir Asaṅga; dari Asaṅga lahir Kuṇista. Dan putra Kuṇi ialah Yugaṃdhara. Mereka termasyhur sebagai garis Śaineyā.
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
This verse supports the Purāṇic method of grounding Śaiva dharma in remembered lineages—showing that Linga worship and Śiva-oriented traditions are transmitted through recognized clans and teachers across generations.
Indirectly: by placing sacred history within an ordered genealogy, it reflects Śiva as Pati—the sovereign principle who sustains dharma through time, guiding pashus (souls) via lineage, śruti-smṛti, and purāṇic remembrance.
No specific ritual is prescribed in this verse; it functions as a lineage-marker, a common Purāṇic device that later anchors eligibility, transmission, and authority for Śiva-pūjā and Pāśupata-oriented teachings.
