सूत उवाच दारुको ऽसुरसम्भूतस् तपसा लब्धविक्रमः सूदयामास कालाग्निर् इव देवान्द्विजोत्तमान्
sūta uvāca dāruko 'surasambhūtas tapasā labdhavikramaḥ sūdayāmāsa kālāgnir iva devāndvijottamān
Sūta berkata: Dāruka, yang lahir dari kaum asura dan memperoleh keperkasaan melalui tapa, mulai menindas serta membinasakan para dewa dan dwija utama, bagaikan api Kala pada akhir zaman. Ketika dharma tertindas, paśu (jiwa terikat) makin tenggelam dalam pāśa (belenggu), hingga akhirnya mencari perlindungan pada Pati, Śiva.

It sets the crisis where dharma is threatened; such moments in the Linga Purana typically culminate in seeking Śiva as Pati and establishing His Linga as the stabilizing refuge for devas, dvijas, and all paśus.
By implying the contrast: asuric power gained by tapas can devastate the world, but only Śiva-tattva as Pati transcends Time (kāla) and restores order, turning fear and bondage into a path toward liberation.
Tapas is highlighted as a potency that must be aligned with Śaiva dharma; the narrative points toward refuge in Śiva through devotion and, contextually, Linga-oriented worship and Pāśupata discipline to overcome pāśa.
