Vighneshvara-Prashna and Deva-Krita Shiva-Stava
Adhyaya 104
Suta Goswami (narrating the Purana’s instruction to the sages, conveying the recommended practice)
It establishes the Shaiva ritual principle of beginning sacred works—especially Shiva-oriented worship—with Vighneśa praise so that obstacles are removed and the intended fruit (karmasiddhi) is secured.
Śiva is implied as Pati, the sovereign source who can manifest auxiliary deities for the welfare of pashus (souls); by bringing forth Vighneśa, Śaṅkara governs both obstruction and its removal, guiding beings toward successful dharmic action.
A practical puja-vidhi takeaway: offer praise (stotra) to Gaṇapati/Vighneśa at the outset of vows, rites, and undertakings to neutralize impediments (vighna) and stabilize siddhi—supporting steady practice in Pashupata-oriented discipline.
