Haristuti-saṅgraha: Devatā–Ṛṣi Praṇāma, Nāma-māhātmya, and Vairāgya from Deha-āsakti
Narrator (describing the sequence of speakers in the dialogue)
Concept: Ego (ahaṅkāra) exhausts itself; true praise proceeds from humility and discernment.
Vedantic Theme: Ahaṅkāra as an upādhi that veils devotion; movement from egoic speech to sattvic stuti.
Application: Notice ego-driven religiosity; practice silence after prayer and allow more sincere, heart-led devotion to arise.
Primary Rasa: hasya
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.7.6 (humble petition); Garuda Purana 3.7.8 (Śacī’s stuti begins)
This verse shows stuti as a formal, ordered act within sacred dialogue—one speaker completes praise and falls silent, then another begins, emphasizing discipline in devotional speech.
Indirectly: it frames the teaching as a narrated dialogue where speakers take turns; such structured discourse is how the Purana delivers its larger doctrines on dharma, karma, and post-death states.
Offer praise or prayer without ego (ahaṅkāra), then practice restraint—speak at the right time and allow space for others, reflecting humility and disciplined devotion.
