Ambarīṣa’s Prayers to Sudarśana and the Deliverance of Durvāsā
तस्य सोद्यममावीक्ष्य पादस्पर्शविलज्जित: । अस्तावीत् तद्धरेरस्त्रं कृपया पीडितो भृशम् ॥ २ ॥
tasya sodyamam āvīkṣya pāda-sparśa-vilajjitaḥ astāvīt tad dharer astraṁ kṛpayā pīḍito bhṛśam
Melihat Durvāsā berusaha memanjatkan doa, dan karena sang muni menyentuh kaki teratainya, Mahārāja Ambarīṣa merasa sangat malu. Tersentuh oleh belas kasih, hatinya makin pedih; maka ia segera memuji senjata agung milik Bhagavān Hari itu (Sudarśana).
This verse shows that even the Lord’s own weapon, Sudarśana, becomes compassionate and acts in harmony with the devotee’s sincerity—highlighting the Lord’s protective care for His bhaktas.
Because Ambarīṣa is a devoted servant of Hari; touching the devotee’s feet signifies the exalted status of bhakti, and the Lord’s potency responds with humility before pure devotion.
Honor sincere devotion and integrity in others, avoid pride in power or position, and let compassion guide corrective action—even when you have the strength to punish.
