He is the son of King Kṛtavīrya, described here as the ruler of the entire earth (saptadvīpa) who gained great yogic power and qualities by the grace of Dattātreya, an expansion of Lord Hari.
This verse identifies Dattātreya as “hareḥ aṁśa,” an expansion/portion of Lord Hari (Viṣṇu), from whom Kārtavīrya Arjuna received yoga and extraordinary virtues.
It teaches that true excellence—inner strength, discipline, and higher qualities—arises most securely through receiving guidance and mercy from a genuine, God-connected teacher and using power in alignment with dharma.
