Arcana-vidhi: The Method of Deity Worship
Vedic, Tantric, and Mixed
यदा स्वनिगमेनोक्तं द्विजत्वं प्राप्य पूरुष: । यथा यजेत मां भक्त्या श्रद्धया तन्निबोध मे ॥ ८ ॥
yadā sva-nigamenoktaṁ dvijatvaṁ prāpya pūruṣaḥ yathā yajeta māṁ bhaktyā śraddhayā tan nibodha me
Sekarang dengarkan dengan penuh śraddhā: bagaimana seseorang yang telah memperoleh status dvija menurut ketentuan Weda hendaknya menyembah-Ku dengan bhakti, akan Kujelaskan.
The word sva-nigamena refers to the particular Vedic injunctions relevant to one’s social and occupational status. Members of the brāhmaṇa, kṣatriya and vaiśya communities all achieve dvijatvam, twice-born status, by initiation into the Gāyatrī mantra. Traditionally, fully qualified brāhmaṇa boys may be initiated at age eight, kṣatriyas at eleven and vaiśyas at twelve, provided the proper conditions are met. Having achieved twice-born status, one should faithfully worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead in His form of the Deity, as the Lord Himself will describe.
This verse states that after one is properly situated in Vedic discipline, one should worship the Lord with bhakti supported by śraddhā—devotion grounded in trusting acceptance of scriptural guidance.
In the Uddhava-gītā section, Kṛṣṇa is instructing Uddhava on the path of devotion and proper worship (arcana), explaining how a qualified person should approach Him according to authorized Vedic injunctions.
Follow an authentic devotional practice rooted in scripture and lineage, and perform worship with sincere devotion and steady faith—prioritizing inner bhakti over mere external ritual.
