Kali-yuga’s Degradation, the Advent of Kalki, and the Reset of the Yuga Cycle
आरभ्य भवतो जन्म यावन्नन्दाभिषेचनम् । एतद् वर्षसहस्रं तु शतं पञ्चदशोत्तरम् ॥ २६ ॥
ārabhya bhavato janma yāvan nandābhiṣecanam etad varṣa-sahasraṁ tu śataṁ pañcadaśottaram
Sejak kelahiran-Mu hingga penobatan Raja Nanda, akan berlalu seribu seratus lima puluh tahun.
Although Śukadeva Gosvāmī previously described approximately fifteen hundred years of royal dynasties, it is understood that some overlapping occurred between kings. Therefore the present chronological calculation should be taken as authoritative.
This verse gives a specific chronological span, stating that from the Lord’s birth up to Nanda’s abhiṣeka the duration totals 1,115 years.
In Canto 12, Shukadeva summarizes future events and Kali-yuga developments, and uses chronological markers to anchor the Purana’s historical and yuga-based framework for Parikshit’s understanding.
Remembering how swiftly ages and events pass encourages urgency in bhakti—prioritizing hearing and chanting about Krishna over temporary pursuits.
