It identifies the divine source from which formal knowledge systems arise—Purāṇas, Upaniṣads, sūtra literature, and bhāṣyas—framing all disciplines as part of sacred vāṅmaya (word-based knowledge).
By listing multiple textual genres (Purāṇa, Upaniṣad, śloka, sūtra, bhāṣya), it signals the Agni Purana’s intent to function as a compendium that connects narrative religion with technical, philosophical, and scholastic traditions.
It sacralizes learning and textual study by rooting all speech and scripture in a divine origin, implying that engagement with these bodies of knowledge participates in a purifying, dharma-supporting order.
