FAQs

It conveys nimitta-jñāna for warfare: identifying abnormal natural phenomena (dark clouds, rain, fire-like appearances, mountain-like apparitions) and irregular troop/battle-standard appearances as actionable battlefield portents.

Beyond theology, the Agni Purāṇa compiles practical disciplines; here it preserves a Dhanurveda-aligned manual of war-signs, integrating observation-based omenology with tactical decision-making.

Recognizing and heeding portents is framed as dharmic prudence—avoiding adharmic rashness and unnecessary destruction—thus aligning action (karma) with discernment and restraint.
