Praise of the Malayārjuna Sacred Ford and the Mathurā-Yamunā Pilgrimage Cycle
pitaraś cāpi nandanti pānīyaṃ piṇḍam eva ca || saptasāmudrike kūpe yaḥ śrāddhaṃ sampradāsyati ||
Varāha
It links a specific water-site to funerary/ancestral rites, illustrating how Purāṇic tīrthas functioned as nodes for life-cycle rituals.
The named micro-location is the Saptasāmudrika well, situated within the chapter’s Mathurā-region sacred geography.
The verse emphasizes intergenerational responsibility: honoring ancestors through regulated offerings, framed as culturally meaningful practice rather than coercive mandate.
