Soma Pavamāna
Gāyatrī (probable)
This Pavamāna Soma hymn celebrates the pressed Soma as it rushes forward like a river, smashing obstacles and purifying itself through the filter on its way to the gods. Soma is praised for ascending beyond the “three luminous realms,” shining with a sun-like impulse that drives light and vitality forward. The hymn culminates in inviting the sweet, potent stream to take its seat in the shared ritual space, beautiful for ṛta (truth/order) and fit for divine drinking.

प्र निम्नेनेव सिन्धवो घ्नन्तो वृत्राणि भूर्णयः । सोमा असृग्रमाशवः ॥
सोम तेज़ दौड़ता है जैसे नदी नीचे की तरफ बहती है। वो रास्ते में आने वाले हर बंधन को तोड़ देता है। उसकी ताकत इतनी होती है कि वो सब कुछ गिरा के चलता है।

अभि सुवानास इन्दवो वृष्टयः पृथिवीमिव । इन्द्रं सोमासो अक्षरन् ॥
जब सोम को निचोड़ा जाता है, वो बूँद-बूँद करके बहने लगता है। जैसे बारिश धरती पर गिरती है, वैसे ही वो इन्द्र की तरफ देता है। इन्द्र की ताकत को वो बढ़ा देता है।

अत्यूर्मिर्मत्सरो मदः सोमः पवित्रे अर्षति । विघ्नन्रक्षांसि देवयुः ॥
सोम एक वेव की तरह है जो खुशी और जोश से भरा होता है। वो साफ करने वाले पानी से गुज़रता है। रास्ते में आने वाली बुरी ताकतों को वो गिरा देता है। क्योंकि वो भगवान की तरफ जाना चाहता है।

आ कलशेषु धावति पवित्रे परि षिच्यते । उक्थैर्यज्ञेषु वर्धते ॥
सोम मटके में दौड़ कर जाता है। उसको साफ करने वाले पानी में डाला जाता है। जब लोग भजन गाते हैं और यज्ञ करते हैं, तब सोम की ताकत बढ़ जाती है। सच बात से उसकी शक्ति और स्ट्रांग होती है।

अति त्री सोम रोचना रोहन्न भ्राजसे दिवम् । इष्णन्त्सूर्यं न चोदयः ॥
सोम, तुम तीन दुनिया से आगे निकल जाते हो। आसमान में जाके चमकते हो। जैसे सूरज सबको आगे बढ़ाता है, वैसे तुम भी अंदर का चमक पूरा करते हो।

अभि विप्रा अनूषत मूर्धन्यज्ञस्य कारवः । दधानाश्चक्षसि प्रियम् ॥
रिशि लोग और वो जो शब्द बनाते हैं, वो सब ऊपर की तरफ गाते हैं। यह यज्ञ का सबसे ऊपर हिस्सा है। वो प्यारा आनंद लेके अंदर से देखते हैं।

तमु त्वा वाजिनं नरो धीभिर्विप्रा अवस्यवः । मृजन्ति देवतातये ॥
जो लोग समझदार हैं और मदद माँगते हैं, वो सोम को अपने सोच से साफ करते हैं। ताकि भगवान का काम उनमे शुरू हो जाए।

मधोर्धारामनु क्षर तीव्रः सधस्थमासदः । चारुॠताय पीतये ॥
सोम, मीठी धार के साथ बहो। अपनी ताकत दिखाओ और यज्ञ की जगह बैठो। यह सत्य के लिए है, भगवान के पीने के लिए।
