Sukta 8.12
यद्वा शक्र परावति समुद्रे अधि मन्दसे । अस्माकमित्सुते रणा समिन्दुभिः ॥
yád vā śakra parāváti samudré ádhi mándase | asmā́kam ítsuté raṇā sám índubhiḥ ||
शक्र, तुम समुंदर के पास भी हो, दूर भी हो, पर हमारा सोम यहाँ है। यहाँ आओ, लड़ाई में मदद करो, और इन बूंदों के साथ खुश रहो।
Re-centering invocation: even if Indra is ‘far’ (cosmically elsewhere), he is called to the present Soma pressing; used to secure divine presence and immediacy.
divine transcendence vs immanence, Soma as bridge of communion, call to presence (invocation efficacy)
Ṛta is fulfilled when the transcendent supports the imminent sacrifice.
The ‘far ocean’ of truth must become effective in the ‘pressed’ experience of the practitioner.
Descent of power from vastness into formed offering.
Integral Vedic psychology (descent-ascent dynamic).
Ocean = vast consciousness; pressed Soma = distilled joy in the system; the call is for vastness to become intimate delight.
Call the ‘far’ luminous mind down into the heart-breath; unite transcendence with embodiment.
Ājñā descending to Anāhata
Inhale imagining vast oceanic space above/around; exhale drawing it into the heart as warm Soma-joy.
Vast yet present; powerful calm.
If meditation becomes abstract, repeat the mantra while feeling the body as the altar; let joy (indu) become tangible in breath and chest.
Svara not provided; maintain even pitch with slight lift on vocatives ‘śakra’ and ‘raṇa’.
Stress phrase ‘parāvatī samudré adhi’ to evoke distance, then ground on ‘asmākam it sute’.
Keep ś in śakra distinct from s., Pronounce samudre with clear dental d., Maintain visarga in indubhiḥ as soft breath at end.
Calling then intimate—start expansive, end close and warm.
