Sukta 7.54
वास्तोष्पते शग्मया संसदा ते सक्षीमहि रण्वया गातुमत्या । पाहि क्षेम उत योगे वरं नो यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥
vā́stoḥ pate śagmáyā saṃsádā te sakṣī́mahi raṇváyā gātu-mátyā | pā́hi kṣémam utá yóge váraṃ no yūyáṃ pāta svastíbhíḥ sádā naḥ ||
Protective closing of the Vāstoṣpati set: prayer for secure dwelling (kṣema) and right ‘yoking’ (yoga) of life-energies; continual svasti-guard.
Yoga as right joining of forces, Kṣema as stable peace, Gātu as right passage in consciousness
Implicit: the right paths (gātu) and right yoking (yoga) are expressions of Ṛta in practice.
Abiding with the presiding power implies fidelity to truth in daily living.
The ‘house’ as microcosm where paths of ascent/descent are navigated and forces are yoked into harmony.
Practical Vedic yoga: integration and stability as the basis for higher realization.
evening/night (protective tone; not explicit)
Seat = stable posture/inner base; path = method and inner transition; kṣema = nervous-system calm; yoga = integrated functioning of faculties under the soul.
Abide with the inner guardian: stabilize posture (seat), invite guidance (path), protect calm (kṣema), and set intention for right integration (yoga).
Mūlādhāra (seat/stability) + Anāhata (svasti/harmony)
Box breathing (4-4-4-4) to establish ‘saṃsad’; then natural breath while contemplating ‘gātu’ as an inner path of light.
Stable, protected, quietly courageous.
Chant once to ‘set the seat’; then remain still for a minute sensing a protective circle; next, ask inwardly for the next right step (gātu) and the right yoking of energies (yoga) for the day.
Tri-svara; keep the middle descriptive compounds (raṇvayā gātumatyā) flowing, then return to steady protection on the svasti close.
Articulate compounds clearly: śagmayā saṃsadā; raṇvayā gātumatyā. Slightly lengthen ‘kṣema’ and ‘yoge’.
saṃsadā: nasal ‘ṃ’ before s; avoid turning it into ‘n’., kṣema: pronounce kṣ as a conjunct (not ‘kema’)., gātumatyā: long ā; dental t; palatal yā at end.
Centered, steady, with a gentle luminous flow in the second pāda.
