Indra
Triṣṭubh (probable)
This short Indra-hymn is an urgent invitation to the god to come to the sacrifice when Agni is kindled and Soma is pressed, to drink and be exhilarated. The poet asks Indra to unyoke and sit with the worshipping company, granting strength, “good passage” (suvitā), and protection. Even if Indra is far away in heaven or in his own hidden seat, he is entreated to guard the rite together with the Maruts.

Mantra 1
इन्द्र पिब तुभ्यं सुतो मदायाव स्य हरी वि मुचा सखाया । उत प्र गाय गण आ निषद्याथा यज्ञाय गृणते वयो धाः ॥
इंद्र, यह सोम रस तेरे लिए निकाला है, पी ले। अपने दो घोड़े खुल कर छोड़ दे, अब आराम कर। साथ में बैठ और गाना शुरू कर। यज्ञ करने वाले को शक्ति दे।

अस्य पिब यस्य जज्ञान इन्द्र मदाय क्रत्वे अपिबो विरप्शिन् । तमु ते गावो नर आपो अद्रिरिन्दुं समह्यन्पीतये समस्मै ॥
इंद्र, यह पी ले। पहले भी तूने पिया था तब तुझमें शक्ति आई थी। गाय, पानी और पत्थर सब मिलकर सोम रस को तेरे लिए निकाल रहे हैं। सब मिलकर तेरे लिए यह रस तैयार कर रहे हैं।

समिद्धे अग्नौ सुत इन्द्र सोम आ त्वा वहन्तु हरयो वहिष्ठाः । त्वायता मनसा जोहवीमीन्द्रा याहि सुविताय महे नः ॥
जब अग्नि जल रहा हो और सोम का रस निकल रहा हो, तब इंद्र को बुलाया जाता है। तेज़ घोड़े आके उसे ले आएँ। पूरा मन उसकी तरफ करके हम उसे पुकारते हैं। इंद्र आओ, हमारे लिए बड़ा अच्छा रास्ता बनाओ और जीत दिलाओ।

आ याहि शश्वदुशता ययाथेन्द्र महा मनसा सोमपेयम् । उप ब्रह्माणि शृणव इमा नोऽथा ते यज्ञस्तन्वे वयो धात् ॥
इंद्र, जैसे हमेशा आते हो, वैसे ही आओ। सोम का पीना तुम्हे पसंद है, बड़े मन से आओ। हमारी बातें कानो से सुनो। फिर तुम्हारा यज्ञ तुम्हे ताकत दे, तुम्हारे शरीर में जान आए।

यदिन्द्र दिवि पार्ये यदृधग्यद्वा स्वे सदने यत्र वासि । अतो नो यज्ञमवसे नियुत्वान्त्सजोषाः पाहि गिर्वणो मरुद्भिः ॥
इंद्र, तुम आसमान में हो या कहीं और, या अपने घर में हो जहाँ रहते हो, वहीं से हमारे यज्ञ की रक्षा करो। मरुत के साथ मिलकर हमारी मदद करो। हम सब मिलकर तुम्हे पुकारते हैं, हमे बचाओ।
